Testimonials

Catherine is wonderful: a thoughtful, individually attentive, and nurturing teacher who has the rare gift of being able to impart not only strong technical skills but also a rare sense of musicality to her students. We have three daughters, all of whom studied with Catherine for years, and we—and they!—couldn’t be happier with how it’s gone. For years now, thanks to the way in which Catherine has taught our daughters, we’ve lived in a house full of beautiful music. We can’t recommend her highly enough!

Toby and Catherine

Working with Catherine has been such a gift! I trained classically for 17 years from my youth through my college years, but as an adult found my skills had stagnated. Catherine was able to quickly diagnose my strengths and weaknesses, and give me practical strategies to help improve my practice. With her guidance, I am now learning repertoire I never imagined I’d be able to play, and enjoying every moment of it. It’s so much fun, and as a busy working mom of three, it is something I do just for myself.

I had always dreamed of learning how to play the piano but kept telling myself I was too old. Finally I took the plunge and started lessons with Catherine. It was a great decision. She’s a wonderful teacher. She’s patient, so knowledgeable, and fun. She creatively tailors her teaching to suit your unique learning style.

Catherine has taught both of our children piano for the past 4 years and we have been very happy with the results. She has challenged them both with scales, exercises, theory, and a variety of styles to help them grow and develop their musicality and piano technique. She has also included some popular and jazz compositions to keep their lessons interesting, in conjunction with more classical piano training. We highly recommend her!

Leila and Greg

Our son has been learning piano with Catherine for 9 years, and we can’t imagine a better experience. She meets her students where they are at every age and creates lesson plans that recognize their unique strengths and challenges. We have been especially impressed by the way she engages her students as partners in their learning process, letting them know that she takes them seriously and that she sees their full potential. She is an extremely gifted teacher and your child would be lucky to work with her.

Jane and David

I started taking piano lessons at five years of age and did so on and off for many years. Long breaks between taking lessons meant I knew how to play the piano, but I didn't do so with confidence. Working with Catherine over the past 7 years has helped me overcome this hurdle! She explains, for example, a passage I might struggle with in a way that makes it much easier for me to approach. With Catherine’s direction and practice, I discovered I have the ability to keep on growing and learning how to refine my piano playing skills!

I am playing beyond my expectations in a short time with Catherine’s instruction. Catherine has a knack for choosing the right level of challenge to help you progress. I highly recommend Catherine if you are an adult piano student.
